The exhibition "Corps Sportifs" is installed at the National Museum of Sport. It invites visitors to wonder about this fascinating subject, both a symbol of appearance and the main tool of performance.
In search of perfection
From ancient vases to media images of today, the body questions through its power, its movement, its apprehension of space. The sports body must meet the demand of the spectacle, in the broad sense of the term, necessarily always more dazzling, and that of its perception in society.
Produced with the support of Georges Vigarello, a leading French specialist in the body and its applications in sport, the exhibition "Corps Sportifs" reveals the historical evolutions and its representations: apparatus of improvement for decades, the body is also the reflection of an ideal seeking to fill in deficiencies, natural weaknesses.
A discovery to share with the family
On more than 500 m2, this exhibition presents visitors with more than 150 objects, enlightening as varied as they are, on the way the body draws, evaluates itself, lives itself: instruments, books, engravings, photos, statues, posters, outfits, devices of control or evaluation, engines of piloting or exploration will be in the program of this journey through time, marked by the social, technical and technological possibilities offered on the moment.
To make the sporting body the subject of an exhibition is above all a fascinating story, with the most requirements and clarity, in order to transform the simple scientific discourse into an interactive and fun experience that is inevitably accessible to all, in order to meet the expectations of all visitors to the National Sports Museum
