Discover the work of Martin Miguel who questions the masterpieces of prehistoric art by creating works in concrete and paper.
For several years now, Martin Miguel has been working on the origin of art and its very nature. From Lascaux to Chauvet, he questions the masterpieces of prehistoric art by creating works in concrete and paper that take on the forms of the figures of Palaeolithic cave art.
Miguel Martin was born in 1947 in Nice. At the age of twenty, when he graduated from art school in Nice, his immediate environment was that of the New Realists and Fluxus. He was particularly sensitive to the work of Yves Klein. The question of the moment, with Simon Hantaï and the BMPT Group in particular, is to reconsider painting and its constituents and to elaborate a new meaning. He joined forces with Isnard, Chacallis, Charvolen and Maccaferri to form the Groupe70 (created in January 1970), alongside the Support-Surface group.
