Through invented folklore and intertwined beliefs, Beatrice Celli (b. 1992) creates a personal mythology that is passed on to the viewer as material to imagine new worlds.
In her sculptures, installations, drawings, performances and texts, she reanimates elements of mystical and popular culture, especially from her region of Abruzzo in southern Italy. Family mementos, rosaries and good luck charms are integrated with other manufactured devices that highlight the importance of the material. Her work as a whole combines gestures that are at times bestial and impulsive, at other times gripping and meticulous.
After graduating in 2019, the artist returns to the Villa Arson for an exhibition in the Passage des fougères, a new space dedicated to emerging artists.
